At least two white tern pairs are “battling” to “own” the kukui nut tree by the small structure on the makai playground!

The pushing and shoving for ownership can get testy!

In the past few days, Ame 雨 has been hop-flying from branch to branch in her kukui nut tree. It can take a few minutes to find her!

And then we caught Ame 雨 flying, mainly “hovering” within the shade of her kukui nut tree. These are our first “good” shots of Ame 雨 flying.

All the while, Hinata 日向 appeared to grow (and get fluffier) day by day! She’s also be practicing being super cute.

On Wednesday, Ame 雨 enjoyed showing off her wings!

And what beautiful wings they are!

Ame 雨 grew bolder Thursday, even peeping out from under the canopy!

Hinata 日向 is still about 3 weeks behind Ame 雨.

Bad & Good (Tern) News

Sadly, during the gale-force winds, our almost-fully-developed egg fell and broke. That’s the bad news.

The good news is that several Manu-o-Ku (white tern) pairs are actively checking-out spots for future eggs!
